PTA News – minibeasts in EYFS

This half term, EYFS are focussing on minibeasts and with some of our PTA money, we have been able to order a butterfly garden and some live caterpillars. These arrived on Monday lunchtime through the post and the children were really excited to meet their new friends! They are still very small, but are very wriggly and the children have enjoyed watching them and using the magnifying glass to study them! We are hoping they will all transform into beautiful ‘Painted Lady’ butterflies that we can release before the half term holiday.EYFS

Dunnington Victory Dodgeball Finals!

Dunnington attended the York Dodgeball finals on the training day before the Easter holidays. We were the only school in York to have two teams through to the final’s day. Both teams represented the school really well, displaying fantastic skills and an unbelievable attitude, making sure they were giving everything they had. One of our Dunnington teams finished as winners and the other came fourth in the competition, which is an amazing achievement! Two of the top four teams in the whole of York is fantastic! Mrs Rowntree and Mr Sellers are extremely proud of everyone that took part. Thank you also to the parents who gave lifts and support.

A healthy and nutritious lunch costs £3 per day and payment can be made by ParentPay. School meals are free for children in Reception to Year 2, under the Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme.

Free school meals are also available to families in receipt of certain benefits; you can find out more and apply online via the City of York Council website, or further details of qualifying benefits and an application form may be obtained from the school office.

We would strongly encourage any families who feel they may meet the criteria and may be entitled to this support to apply – including if your child is entitled to a meal under the universal infant free school meal initiative – as your child’s school will benefit from additional funding known as the Pupil Premium.

Y5/6 Netball Tournament Report

On Monday 20th March 2023, Y5/6 netball club participated in a friendly tournament. The schools involved were Forest of Galtres, Osbaldwick and Dunnington (Dunnington had two teams, A and B). They all played very well and put a lot of effort into it. All children involved showed excellent teamwork and resilience throughout the matches.

A special thank you to all the parents who came to watch- your support is very much appreciated. Also thank you to Mrs Rowntree and Miss Dickenson who organised the event.Report written by Patrycja, Maia and Tess (Year 6)
