Biometric data means personal information about an individual’s physical or behavioural characteristics that can be used to identify that person; this can include their fingerprints, facial shape, retina and iris patterns, and hand measurements.Department for Education Guidance
Biometric information is information about a person’s physical or behavioural characteristics that can be used to identify them, for example, information from their fingerprint. Some schools use biometric information as part of an automated (i.e. electronically-operated) recognition systems such as catering services or library access.
Dunnington CE Primary school does not store or process pupils’ biometric data and does not use any automated recognition systems. We have no plans to implement such systems.
For more information about the legal duties schools and colleges have if they do wish to use biometric information about pupils for the purposes of using automated biometric recognition systems, please see the guidance from the Department for Education.
