Staff to run from Land’s End to John O’Groats!
Although it has been a tough year for everyone, two families in our school community have been in our hearts and prayers constantly over the last 12 months as they have faced some incredibly tough circumstances. Many in our community have been touched by the challenges they have faced and have been keen to support them throughout. With this in mind, as a school staff we wanted to play our part in helping them both to raise money for their chosen charities and hopefully to raise a few smiles along the way!
So, we’ve set ourselves a challenge: to collectively run or walk all the way from Land’s End to John O’Groats by the end of the school year! We will be tracking our run as part of a virtual Conqueror Challenge (1,083 miles) and keeping you updated with regular newsletter entries about our progress. The charities we will be raising money for, in support of these families, are St Leonard’s Hospice and Oscar’s Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity. We hope that you enjoy following our progress and ask that you give what you can to support these incredibility worthy causes. The Big Pedal
A huge thank you and well done to all the children and parents who helped us take part in ‘The Big Pedal’ event. The results are in and Dunnington Primary scored highly in both the National and Regional categories. National data shows we made 2498 walk to school journeys over 10 days! Phenomenal achievement!
78% of pupils walked, scootered or biked to school with 55% of parents accompanying their child to school. We came in position 142 out of 560 small schools in the UK. Regional data shows we came 15th out of 49 schools across Yorkshire and the Humber. On this occasion we didn’t win any prizes, but we did increase our activity levels and help do our little bit to help
protect the environment.
Many thanks,
Mrs Rowntree
