We will be having an open evening for new starters in reception 2025 on Tuesday 12th November between 4pm and 5pm (flier to follow). It will be a drop-in event where families can see our amazing EYFS area, meet staff and ask questions. They will also have an opportunity to have a tour of the school and sample some of our delicious school dinner desserts.

We would really appreciate it if you spread the word about this event. We also have spaces in most other year groups in school. If you know of anyone who is considering a move into the village, please encourage them to get in touch. We would be more than happy to show them round, have a chat and welcome them to our wonderful school!

You can make your application for a secondary school place from 12th September of the previous year, when your child is in Year 6. The national application deadline is 31st October.

Open Evenings are usually held each autumn for prospective pupils, parents and carers to attend and view schools; the planned dates for the Year 6 open evenings are as follows:

• Thursday 26 September – Joseph Rowntree School
• Tuesday 1 October – Huntington School
• Wednesday 2 October – Milthorpe School

• Tuesday 8 October – York High School
• Wednesday 9 October – Vale of York Academy
• Thursday 10 October – All Saints Roman Catholic School

You should apply for your child to start primary or infant school in the school year your child turns 4 so if your child was born between 1st September 2020 and 31st August 2021 it is time to start thinking about joining Reception next year and applying!

Online applications for Reception places in September 2025 have now opened at www.york.gov.uk/schooladmissions. Please note that applying early does not give any priority, although to have the best chance of your application being successful you should complete and submit your application by the deadline which is the 15th January 2025.
